My story and how I discovered the secrets to career success...
My name is Mary Hope and in one way or another I have spent my entire professional life having a profound impact on people’s careers. For eight of them I was a headhunter, recruiting senior individuals for a range of roles across the public sector. Working to a brief provided by the employer.

I was advising (and often deciding) who got interviews and who didn’t. I was writing questions for interviews and in a powerful position to influence the final decision. My assignments include placing Local Authority Chief Executives, NDPB Directors, Charity Directors, Housing Association Chief Executives and NHS Directors.

In addition to advising the employers, I was giving feedback and coaching the applicants to help them improve their job-hunting skills. I am now working with candidates and employees. My passion is to advise and support people on how to make their career a success, to get paid more, promoted faster and feel more satisfied.

I loved this work. I really enjoyed the introductions to so many really impressive and talented people and the window it gave me to so many differing roles in a variety of organisations. I really liked the work with the candidates; opening their eyes to the mysteries of senior recruitment. I liked it so much I took it up full time.

Before my recruitment experience I spent over 20 years in (secondary) teaching, training, recruiting, coaching and human resource management. I have worked in Human Resources in both public and private sectors. I am a Fellow of the CIPD, an NLP practitioner, a qualified psychometric tester and have a diploma in coaching, (awarded a distinction, accredited by the Association for Coaching) and an ILM Master Trainer Qualification. I love to read and learn and so have continued my own learning with University of Kent, CityLit  and self directed study.

And whilst I do work for myself now, I also keep my hand in by working for organisations. I Chair the Board of Sussex Housing and Care and sit on the  Eastbourne Homes Ltd Board. I also sit on the Exceptional Hardship Property Panels for the HS2 train line, for Heathrow Third Runway and Thames Tideway Tunnels and I was a Lay Interviewer for the Judicial Appointments Commission.

I have been in business since 2010  and so have significant experience of coaching, writing and marketing. I have had articles published in the Municipal Journal and written two books.  I work as a volunteer for Citizens Advice and was president of my local WI.
